A Romantic Evening With B. One's Songbook

The night of July 1, 2010 was unique in so many ways. First off, let me to take a moment to thank all my dear friends that came to support. I really appreciate your being there and am very blessed to have the people in my life that I do. :)

I feel an incredible connection to this show because it was my first full length set in NYC since my move here in 2007. These songs represent not only a sense of accomplishment but also mark a very important and sincere chapter in my life that I hope you will find inspiring.

To my friends and fans,

Thank You.

Inspiration & Many Laughs

First and foremost let me just say it has been a minute since I did a blog post so let’s get you guys updated IMMEDIATELY!

I just finished sifting through some 150 self-sent voice texts on my phone. These lil messages were filled with song ideas (vocal/lyrical and guitar mostly) from both the head and the heart (these, of course, were the best!) and it made me think to myself two things. First: ‘Damn, I am one talented “brotha”; and second: ‘I need to record some of these bad boys!’ I am seriously considering using at least one of the songs on the record. Whew! Talk about an Evening Rewind.

Speaking of The Evening Rewind, I was just joking around with my good friend, Jon Kim, about this title for our old high school band. If you’re in the mood for a laugh check out some of the songs here. (P.S. I still think I should’ve sang lead on our single. lol) Till next time! PEACE!!!!

The Inner Genius Child

As I clear my mind of distractions, I ponder an idea with a curiousity that may take precedent as a new discovery. Your line: “SAY WHAT!?”, My line: “Chill Yo, I’ll Explain.”

I remember not too long ago, when practice didn’t require much thought but was a simple joy. Writing a song was just an EMO-Dump (Emotional overload on paper) and playing guitar…One Hell-Of-A Party! Now don’t get me wrong here, I’ve been gifted with a unique musical education, songwriting and structure (along with just plain good looks) that have led me to where I am now; but I’m putting all that aside to try something different. I’m going to play and write music like a lil kid again…There R NO RULEZ! Your line: “Should I Be Worried?”, My Line: “Yes. Very.” Cause It maybe on the train or @ your house party but if you see me letting my inner child out, seriously just go with it.

If there’s one thing to be certain of….everytime I pick up the guitar or write a line of melody on my pad, you can expect ‘Big B’ (as my dad used to call me) to come pouring his lil heart out. And as for the result of this experiment, well…..I’ll keep you posted. ;)

Music: A Hope

For The New Generation

Over the last few years, we have lost some of the most talented names in the music/entertainment industry. Legends and heros like: Michael Jackson, Les Paul, DJ AM, Billy Powell (Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Keyboardist), Jimmy Sullivan (Avenged Sevenfold’s drummer), Bo Diddley, Mitch Mitchell, and James Brown, to name a few, shared their message with us. Their innovative music brought us to the inner depths of ourselves, helped shape our lives and made a huge change in the world. These leaders have left a mark in history that can never be erased.

Despite these immense losses, I feel both an invitation and the inspiration to step up as both an artist and a leader. To deliver music with with honesty, raw emotion and a powerful message that can only speak for itself. Music can and does change the world. Think about it. Look back on your life to those times when you were happy, sad, angry, lost, in love or heartbroken. What was that song or album, or maybe even music video that mirrored exactly what you were feeling then, at that moment? Music has been the paramount for so much of who we are as individuals. If you disagree, imagine taking the music out of your favorite movie and tell me what you experience. Did the movie have the same affect? Was it even good? I know this may seem like I’m going overboard with this whole “music is life thing” but I really feel called to share this with you all and I think that if you take a good look at your life, I know you will find how much music has played a big part in it.

What I’m really getting at here is that I am hereby committing myself to giving my all in everything that I do. My music wil be an inspiration for all kinds of people across the world but especially for the youth. I feel that so much of the “music” out there today leaves a weak and impersonal imprint on kids and I know they deserve more. Here’s to the new vision, to creating with a real message. MUSIC FOR THE NEW GENERATION.

Much Love,
